The GNU project and the GCC developers have announced the release of GCC 3.4.4. This release is a bug-fix release, containing fixes for regressions in GCC 3.4.3 relative to previous releases of GCC.

So is this version of gcc still the fastest out of all the versions including 4.0?
No, gcc 2.95 is faster, but out of the 3.x/4.x series,
it is the fastest.
I’m already going for gcc 3.4.5 (prerelease)…
just switched back to 3.4.4 and its working great. gcc4 was all sorts of weird – it made FLACs unplayable in any app for no explicable reason, broke random KDE stuff etc.. learned my lesson about gentoo upgrade-itis..will stick with lovely 3.4.4 …
