Today we are excited to make preview builds from the Microsoft Edge Canary channel available on Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1. This rounds out the initial set of platforms that we began to roll out back in April, so developers and users alike can try out the next version of Microsoft Edge on every major desktop platform.
…except Linux.
Oh, come on. Linux isn’t a major desktop platform, and you know it.
Then what is it? From where I stand, the major desktop platforms are still Windows, macOS and linux.
A minor desktop platform?

Exactly! Thom is known for his “not very accurate snarky comment”, but Andre must be trolling or must really be only looking from “where he stands”.
Windows XP has a bigger share as a desktop platform than Linux and it has been considered a minor/dead desktop platform for a very long time.
Decimating-guideline*:
Windows has approximately 90% marketshare
macOS about 1/10th of that at 9%
Linux about 1/10th of that at 0.9%
* Of course this is very different based on where you live and what you even consider to be a desktop platform. ChromeOS is roughly the size of Linux now for example and among developers Linux and macOS are very common
