There doesn’t seem to be much interest in GPE. I only recently tried it myself on my Zaurus SL-C760 with OpenZaurus 3.5.4-RC. It didn’t last long because I didn’t have time to mess with it; needed my Zaurus working 100%. But I’ll definately look at it again, I was impressed with how familiar a lot of it looked whilst retaining a PDA feel.
Give it a whirl, if you can!

I would be really happy to use GPE, but unfortunately iPaqs are insanely costly, and the cheap ones do not run linux
