This is also a standalone product. It’s available for Solaris and should be for NT. It combines XFS+NFS+CVS and it’s transparent for the end user.

How many systems does SGI ship. Frankly they have lost out in the core GFX workstation markets, webservers(they once had signifigent market share)and the film industry. SGI systems are just don’t compete anymore. They are just too expensive and compared to other 64 bit workstations.
In SGI’s case the hammer should literally put the nail in the coffin.
Is the fact that a 10+ year old workstation that does not cost you anymore money can be used to create application taht will run on the lastest Origin300 render machine.
I agree thought that buying SGI hardware is expensive, If you’re not in graphics rendering. SGI Should cut it’s prices, and start selling it’s Software updates.
SGI doesn’t update all areas of their site at once, if you want to stay current with the updates watch http://support.sgi.com/6.5 since this is old news. Even the page you link too says it’s been shipping since August 7th and this release was available before then. It’s also kind of funny how I finished upgrading my SGI machines before you even announced the update, 20 days later.
you can download all IRIX updates for free, if you have an exisitng 6.5.X installation.
wicked that the FUEL with its “shitty” 600mhz MIPS cpu got the award for superior technology, since it isnt able to compete with the latest alphas/x86….
c`mon guys, do you just pretend to be that stupid? there is more to computers than raw cpu power and fancy features.
sgi is still in the big business when it comes to supercomputers and realtime visualization and it is still releasing new technology.
propbably because their technology is mature and proven.
