A new version of MikeOS, a simple 16-bit assembly operating system designed to teach basic OS design and implementation, is now available. It features FAT12 file writing, a new mouse driver, a C library and other changes. As always, the Handbook provides copious info on the OS and how to start OS development yourself.
Thanks OS News for occasional updates on these small projects. There’s a finite number of operating system projects and some projects rarely have news. But still, I’d like to see more stories like this rather than the usual Linux/OSS software update announcements.
For example, at the bottom of the MikeOS web page are links to three projects I don’t recall seeing on OSNews: Apollo OS (Alpha stage), Bare Metal OS, and DexOS.
Thanks again,
-Bob
