…as a WP7 phone owner, I’d like to see the HTML5/silverlight advances a little sooner than next Autumn. But as the author states, it is all speculation on her part.
I have to admit, I am really enjoying my phone! I snagged the HTC HD7 and it has (with the exception of the flaky camera) performed quite nicely, even battery life is good.

I guess this means that the browser will be updated to IE9. That should mean that most sites designed for iPhone & Android should then work properly. (assuming the CSS does not use vendor specific tags)
That should be big improvement over the current browser. Right now, Windows Phone 7 is the only current-gen phone OS that is still using a previous-gen browser.

There is no Opera for Windows Phone 7, because Windows Phone 7 does not support installation of native applications. That is also why Mozilla doesn’t have a Firefox Mobile for Windows Phone 7.

No one is preventing them to release a .Net version of their browser.
Or does the critic to Microsoft not rewriting all their application from scratch in .Net only apply when we speak about Microsoft?
If this is true and the Jan/Feb update is not major I would say that Microsoft will lose. I bought a Samsung Windows Phone about 2 weeks ago and while it is not bad for a first try (ignoring the abomniation that was Windows Mobile) a lot of work is needed to catch up to the iPhone and Android. If Microsoft is seriously going to not deliver a major update until August 2011 I would suggest they give up and do something else. I would have thought that getting simple stuff like data detection (why can’t I touch a phone number to dial from a SMS????) this is basic stuff. Why can’t I subscribe to podcasts from the phone? etc etc… I really did hope that Microsoft was really serious here… Aug 2011 and we will have seen a iPhone 5 and Android 3.x. Come on Microsoft get with it!!
