One of the big complaints about Chrome currently is that it’s a battery hog, especially on Mac where Safari seems to do better.
The team has been working on addressing this; here are some cases that have recently been improved on trunk.
I’m glad Google is taking this matter seriously.
No problem under Opera and Vivaldi.
Chrome seems to try to pimp my ride web too much.
Ditching Chrome, tried to go back to Firefox for 2 weeks… Both of those are not bad. I even tried Safari for 3 days (MBP 2013 15″). Then I thought about giving a chance to Opera… Although it is mostly a Chrome clone, but I am using it now, and it “seems” much faster… I enjoy it… So I also installed it as default browser on my Galaxy S5, and even my Kindle Fire HD7
So far, Opera seems to be the best of all…
Chrome is the only browser I have found with decent language translation functionality.
If it’s anything like how they’ve improved battery consumption and reporting in the last few releases of Android, it’s little more than empty words. Android’s battery monitor is as useless as ever.
I hope they don’t implement some horrible form of background tab suspending like those energy efficient browsers do.
There are some tasks or web apps that need to be active at all times, where both Safari and Spartan are unusable.
