Apple Computer plans to continue rapidly bringing out new versions of Mac OS X, but it won’t continue at quite the pace it’s maintained in recent years. Also, Apple Computer got hit by a double whammy this week when a security researcher publicized a pair of flaws in Mac OS X that when used together could let attackers place a malicious program on a Mac and then run the file, News.com reports.

i bought a mac so i don’t have to know about technology if i don’t want to. it’s a tool i use to get work done, it’s a complete solution. i didn’t have to build it from scratch or learn a bunch of acronyms to understand it.
btw a 3rd party solution for XP is not the same as a feature available for xp.
obviously though this argument is over, by the tech specs of your machines it’s pretty clear that Apple’s decision to “Slow Pace of Mac OS X Tweaks” is flawed. lol, off topic ranting and trolling, it’s fun to blow the day away though isn’t it?
“both are cards that are not duplicated on any mac made nor are they build to order options nor are there any third party makers of the cards for mac.
sorry. maybe in another 6 months.”
There have already been people ON THIS SITE telling you that they have one of those cards working in their Macs. They have experience and you have nothing to refute it. Get over it.
“or better yet, maybe when you see the elusive 3ghz g5…or for that matter when you see the 1mhz upgrade to the current g5 line…hehe. ”
You can follow the progression of the G5 by paying attention to IBM. They don’t keep it a secret, and Apple never said anything about interim updates, so they have delivered more than what they said to start with.
“Got a dual 1Ghz Front Side Bus? Yeah, didn’t think so…”
AMD is pushing limits with FSB.
“and also 802.11 a b and g internally…no option for that on mac…no “a” standard i should say.”
Why would you want 802.11a? It’s like g but with no range.
“i have several firewire 400 devices and zero 800 devices so i dont need it but if i wanted it, i could get firewire 800 quite easily:
3 port pcmcia card for $78
http://www.c-source.com/csource/newsite/ttechnote.asp?part_no=73010…..
sorry.”
So you do own Apple hardware. Even on your PC.
“CPU
• Supports 64-bit AMD® Athlon64 processor (Socket 754) (mine has an athlon 64 3400+ attached)”
I hope you aren’t running Windows. Lol. I don’t bash AMD, I respect them a lot.
“Chipset
• VIA® K8T800 Chipset
– HyperTransport connection to AMD Next Generation of CPU
– 8 or 16 bit control/ address. data transfer both directions
– 800/600/400/200MHz “Double Data Rate” operation both direction
– AGP v3.0 compliant with 8X transfer mode
• VIA® VT8237 Chipset
– Ultra DMA 66/100/133 master mode EIDE controller
– Integrated dual channel native Serial ATA/RAID controller that will supply 150MB/s and support RAID 0, RAID 1
– ACPI & PC2001 compliant enhanced power management
– Supports 8 USB2.0 ports. (Rear x4/ Front x4) ”
Now you really sound like you are copying and pasting off a website.
“• Supports three 184-pin DDR SDRAMs up to 2GB memory size”
Not much for a 64 bit chip.
“• Supports DDR400*/DDR333/DDR266 DDR SDRAM (*Refer to MSI recommended modules)
• Note: PC3200 (DDR400) maximum 4 banks (2 double-sided) only
Due to the High Performance Memory design, motherboards or system configurations may or may not operate smoothly at the JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) standard settings (BIOS Default on the motherboard) such as DDR voltage, memory speeds and memory timing. Please confirm and adjust your memory setting in the BIOS accordingly for better system stability.
Example: Kingston HyperX DDR500 PC4000 operates at 2.65V, 3-4-4-8, CL=3.
For more information about specification of high performance memory modules, please check with your Memory Manufactures for more details.”
Seriously, if it’s your setup, just make a list, we don’t need all the unused options. That’s pointless.
I’m just going to skip to the parts that are interesting…
“Audio
• 6 Channel software audio codec Realtek ALC655
• Compliance with AC97′ v2.3 Spec
• Meet PC2001 audio performance requirement
• Provide onboard SPDIF out”
Still going analog, eh? Too bad for you.
“- 1 floppy port supports 2 FDDs with 360K, 720K, 1.2M, 1.44M and 2.88Mbytes
– 1 serial ports COM1
– 1 parallel port supports SPP/EPP/ECP mode”
Didn’t realize anyone still used that stuff.
“so a double data rate 800mhz bus is an effective 1600mhz single bus. so it is 600mhz faster per bus than the best g5.”
That’s not quite how that works.
“add up the features on that motherboard and the best mac will be lacking on most.”
Such as? I saw maybe 2.
“but, the above solution combined with other top notch components (many not available for a mac) will produce a computer that is more powerful and it will cost substantially less.”
So now it’s a solution and not your setup? Make up your mind. And it actually it won’t be that much more powerful, if at all, and will be sorely lacking do to software.
“im only 8 years old and know more about technology than you.
hurts huh?”
By listing stats off a website? BTW, being 8 really shows your lack of experience.
“expose for windows

Not even close. Keep looking though. BTW, Expose isn’t like multiple desktops.
“the feature is there if you want it, regardless of how you get it…and it can be free unlike panther’s expose, which costs $129 for anyone other than a new mac purchaser.”
Or you could buy an upgrade. Guess what the coupons that come with the OS are for.
You really don’t have a clue about how Macs work. You are too young to be open minded. I have a feeling you got your ways from your parents, so I suggest you look at how things other than your setup work. Maybe actually learn something about software. And stop using half-truths, it makes you sound like a tech journalist.
“so a double data rate 800mhz bus is an effective 1600mhz single bus. so it is 600mhz faster per bus than the best g5.”
Boy, you have NO idea what you’re talking about.
“”• Supports three 184-pin DDR SDRAMs up to 2GB memory size”
Not much for a 64 bit chip.”
yeah, all my neighbors have more than 6GB of ram in their machines.
I feel deprived.
and all that memory capability that a g5 has and the $3000 model still only ships with 512mb of ram….the base amount now on $500 computers.
“Still going analog, eh? Too bad for you.”
dont read so much into the direct copy and paste features of a motherboard. it has onboard sound better than that on any mac yet i dont use it. i have a soundblaster audigy 2 zs platinum with live drive and it has optical in/out, midi in/out, rca in/out spdif in/out, 2 more firewire ports, remote control, etc etc etc. too bad for the 95% of mac users that dont have optical ports.
and what part of SPDIF do you not understand? it means Sony/Philips digital interface format
“Expose isn’t like multiple desktops”
well no shit sherlock. multiple desktops was a feature windows had before mac.
“So you do own Apple hardware”
you are so poorly informed. firewire chipsets and ports are not all made by apple.
“Such as? I saw maybe 2.”
oh i know you cant see cause you are blinded by Steve’s bright shiny jet.
that motherboard annihilates a mac solution
it runs a 64 bit cpu that can have a full 64 bit cpu installed to run on it
it has 8 usb 2.0 ports
it has two separate sata busses
it has a standard ata 133 bus as well
it has 5 pci slots…………………………
i love it when you come along. you expose your ignorance so thoroughly no one need do a thing but laugh at you.
“Didn’t realize anyone still used that stuff.” ….says it all.
actually the most installed printer interface is parallel. millions still have special use devices that use serial ports (battery backups/ UPS, Palm cradles, etc), and yeah you still get floppy drives free in most pcs that are shipping new today. tens of millions of people find 1.4MB to be plenty to carry a file from work or school to home and vice versa.
you amaze me. and i find it truly funny.
“Boy, you have NO idea what you’re talking about.”
has utterly convinced me that you know ALL about it.
please fill us in with that great assurance of yours.
But I have much more productive ways to use my time.
“yeah, all my neighbors have more than 6GB of ram in their machines.
I feel deprived.
and all that memory capability that a g5 has and the $3000 model still only ships with 512mb of ram….the base amount now on $500 computers.”
Who brought up your neighbors? But for the record, I have more than 6 gigs.
“dont read so much into the direct copy and paste features of a motherboard. it has onboard sound better than that on any mac yet i dont use it. i have a soundblaster audigy 2 zs platinum with live drive and it has optical in/out, midi in/out, rca in/out spdif in/out, 2 more firewire ports, remote control, etc etc etc. too bad for the 95% of mac users that dont have optical ports.”
I have an optical port and don’t use it. Digital is way to go nowadays. And if we shouldn’t pay attention to what you posted, why did you post it.
“and what part of SPDIF do you not understand? it means Sony/Philips digital interface format”
I know exactly what it is, and I also know that is is most commonly used and associated with RCA, which also is very limiting.
“well no shit sherlock. multiple desktops was a feature windows had before mac.”
Multiple desktops were around long before Windows had them, and if you want to consider 3rd party app (as you were before), then no, Windows didn’t get it before MacOS.
“you are so poorly informed. firewire chipsets and ports are not all made by apple.”
Didn’t say they were. FireWire is designed and maintained by Apple.
“oh i know you cant see cause you are blinded by Steve’s bright shiny jet.”
Stop trolling.
“it runs a 64 bit cpu that can have a full 64 bit cpu installed to run on it”
Care to rephrase that?
“it has 8 usb 2.0 ports”
For what exactly?
“it has two separate sata busses”
I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt on that one because I don’t feel like looking. That’s one.
“it has a standard ata 133 bus as well”
How is that better than a Mac? Even the older ones have that.
“it has 5 pci slots…………………………”
Again, for what?
“i love it when you come along. you expose your ignorance so thoroughly no one need do a thing but laugh at you.”
Then why is everyone debating you and not me?
“”Didn’t realize anyone still used that stuff.” ….says it all.”
I really haven’t seen that stuff around lately.
“actually the most installed printer interface is parallel.”
In comparison to the freebee USB printers everyone is giving away? Are you nuts?
“millions still have special use devices that use serial ports (battery backups/ UPS, Palm cradles, etc),”
Ancient.
“and yeah you still get floppy drives free in most pcs that are shipping new today. tens of millions of people find 1.4MB to be plenty to carry a file from work or school to home and vice versa.”
Not even you can defend a floppy. Come on now.
that motherboard annihilates a mac solution
Hmmmm. How does a motherboard annihilate a full functioning computer.
so If I buy this mother board can I send an email without anything else. A mother board without and OS or apps is uses less. It’s like saying see I have this beautiful chasis with no engine and it totally anihilates that car. Get a life.
“now i see why half of you use macs. you have that elementary school thinking still.
go play with your pretty jelly bean icons.
nimrod”
Elementry school thinking? Coming from an 8 year old…
Anyway, even if I didn’t like Macs I would still have to use them because the applications I need aren’t on any other platform.
now you just sound like an idiot saying such pathetically stupid crap. of course the motherboard is tied to the the rest of the machine.
Are you saying I sound like you? I thought I should droop to your level just for kicks. And now that I have experienced what it feels like to be you, I am utterly disgusted.
Programs actually. There’s no other platform that offers end to end integrated media production, audio, video, animation, authoring, outputting, and full fledged web development including client side and server side testing across MacOS, OS X, Windows 95 through XP, and Linux all on one system and one partition.
