Often when I post newsitems, jokes about those very newsitems pop up inside my head. Since OSNews is tries to be a serious news website or blog or whatever you want to call it, I generally discard those jokes and move on. They are not even that funny anyway.
Until now. I wondered, hey, what the heck, what would happen if I actually found a way to present these jokes to our readers, without hindering the newsitems themselves? Since I am a huge fan of User Friendly and Cyanide & Happiness, I pondered; why not create some sort of OSNews webcomic?
There are a few problems with this one. First, I cannot draw. Really, I really cannot draw. Second, seeing I am a huge fan of UF and C&H, wouldn't that open the door to blatant plagiarism? After giving it a go a few times, I realised both problems were not insurmountable.
Who cares if I cannot draw. It is not as if the guys behind C&H will win any serious drawing contests either, so there is no need for me to become my country's next Rembrandt. And yes, whatever I do with this comic thing will inevitably be influenced by UF and C&H - but heck, I only just started this thing, who knows how my own 'style' might develop.
Without further ado, here they are. They are all drawn using what I call a topline pen, and then scanned using my trusty CanoScan Lide30. The style is beyond simple, and my handwriting is, well, good luck with that one.
