A Look at Win4Lin 5.1

As a student I am quite often confronted with (closed-source) Windows programs. These days there are a few tools that can help running Windows applications on Linux. One of these tools is Win4Lin, Win4Lin allowsone to install Windows 95, 98 and ME under Linux. The Windows NT branch is not supported yet, because Win4Lin sets up a special DOS environmentin which Windows runs.

The Future of OSS Desktop Development: Java, Mono, or C++?

Sun Reluctant to Make Java Open Source

Sun Microsystems is reluctant to make Java source code available through an open-source model because it would encourage incompatible versions of the software, Sun's top software executive said. Our Take: Funny, last night I tried to install the Symbian SDK and it bailed out because it wanted me to have Java 1.3.1 while I had Java 1.4.1. Talk about "incompatibilities"...
