Sun Microsystems plans to announce its new UltraSparc T2 microprocessor, along with plans for servers based on the chip. The UltraSparc T2, an eight-core, 64-thread microprocessor will hit the market in the second half of the year.

Though I am bias towards Sun, their hardware is in my view the best. They’re taking risks and I think it’s paying off.
Hopefully this is another great processor.
Sun has a Virtualization technology called Logical Domains (LDoms).
Here is a flash animation of a UltraSPARC T2 system booting 63 guest + 1 control domain = 64 domains, i.e, 1 per hardware strand.
Here is one of A Linux SPARC and Soalris domain booting on the T2000. It also shows dynamic configuration (adding and removing) of cpus from a running domain.
