Apple has announced an iPad event for March 7 – iPad 3, obviously. The invitation clearly shows a high-resolution display, and some argue it’s missing a home button (we’ll see). If this really has a 2048×1536 resolution… What do you mean, leap-frogging the ‘competition’. So, anybody want to buy a relatively pristine iPad 2 with grey smart cover? Comes with the box and warranty and everything?
Y’know what? It’s probably just in landscape mode.

… it not being an iPad, it is probably an Asus Transformer aâ€like version of the Air. The future of iOSX ;P
If it’s running iOS, it will be an iPad.
What i desire is that such high density panels be sold for standalone desktops.
My 24″ 1920×1080 LG monitor looks so boring, and a modern desktop can handle far more than that.
Ever since I bought my first flat panel display, I’ve been a fan of high resolution. This year 4K. Next year, 8K!
I love my 1920×1080 21,5” iMac screen, but yeah, i’d love to have a 2048×1536 22” screen for everyday use.
And those of us who got an iPad 2 for Christmas are pissed. As long as they’re releasing tablets every year that have about twice the horsepower as the previous model (iPad 3 will probably be quad core), they need to start releasing these f**king things in October or November, so at least then you can give one as a Christmas gift and have it stay current for more than 3 months
It’s like buying a PC back in the old days… outdated almost before you take it out of the box.
Why?
Not like your iPad 2 suddenly stops working when the iPad 3 comes out.
Do you complain every time a new computer, car or TV comes out?
No, because the newer models of TVs and cars usually only have minimal improvements, whereas these tablets are a big step up every time one comes out. The iPad 3 will probably have a much better display, and twice the amount of cores and RAM, and who knows what else. If you’re planning on running games and/or softsynths on it, you need all the horse power you can get I mean, this ain’t like a desktop, where you can run one for 5 years and not really miss much.

Except, none of the release cycle was much of a secret. Not if you pay attention.
If any company were to release all their products at the same time, once a year, it would be commercial suicide. That means, no one is going to be completely happy, so ultimately – tough luck.
I’m sure most people who aren’t tech-savvy and/or giving these things as gifts probably isn’t keenly aware of Apple’s release schedules.
Then why not release the iPhone earlier in the year, and release the iPad around the holidays? At least with the iPhones, people are probably going to be getting new ones when their contract is up, so it doesn’t really matter as much when they release them.
Most people who aren’t tech savvy don’t care. Those who care only need to do 10 minutes of research.
Because people would get an iPhone for Christmas and then bitch about the fact the refresh happened 3 or 4 months later. Honestly, there’s no good time to release a product. None. Everyone’s a critic when they fucked up and didn’t put in the research. That goes for ant company and any product line too. Apple is not a special case here.
<joke>Jobs was a Buddhist, Christmas does not exist to Apple.</joke>
Be informed. Look at the CLEARLY defined product cycles. Read the Apple tech press. Understand that the world owes you zilch.
Hm, Parinirvana (“Nirvana Day”) does seem fairly close to iPad unveilings…

And Asala – Dharma Day (“The anniversary of the start of Buddha’s teaching”), in July, is around the time of traditional iPhone launch dates.
(BTW, I really sort of wish to see, one day, the end of ~”Understand that the world owes you zilch” being thrown around …that, determining how much the world ~owes you, is essentially the whole idea behind money, and also with plenty of less tangible perk, social interactions, and so on – a major part of our universal desire & drive for higher social status, is, ultimately, increasing the chances of others doing things for us even on a whim of ours; that seems to be the “optimal” state of affair for us – so it’s also natural to be too ~eager, for our present influence)

Sell your current ipad2 for a good price quickly to someone unaware of ipad3.
I think there are a lot of people who would buy the ipad2 for a reasonable price, who just need the functions of the device.
This just in: all iPads prior to iPad 3 to self-destruct and become useless March 7th. Caution! Items might smoke and become hot to the touch.
Is it really a surprise to you?
what if its an ipad 2s?
