Microsoft issued an update to its final Update Rollup for Windows 2000 on Tuesday, correcting issues with the initial release. While there seems to be yet more glitches still not fixed, the company says those will be addressed in individual patches.

I am waiting for the patch to correct the fix to the update!
Given the amount of enterprises still using 2000, I doubt it really is a ‘final’ update.
hehe, needed this for some w2k boxes around, but it asked for Genuine Windows Validation ™ (r). since i run linux, i run the tool under wine, and yeah, it works. it seems that i run a really genuine gnu/windows version, slackware XP
weird, i tried it under wine and it didn’t work for shit!
i ended up using greasemonkey for firefox and a little .user.js file, worked a treat.
now i’m going to roll this and sp4 (and ntswitch!) into the win2k pro iso
Stupid rollup introduced a big that bit me in the ass. Guess that Microsoft’s way of saying buy XP $$, then shell out for Vista $$.
or do the “smart” thing and go linux
That’s what it is! SP3 will most likely be the last for XP. But what can you do eh? Other than not use M$ products.
As for rollup v2. I don’t plain on installing it, since I already installed the original rollup that came out earlier this year.
Since I haven’t had any issues with that install, I don’t see the point of installing v2.
This is meant to be a ROLLUP, yet when this one go’s final, they are already saying it’s going to have bugs and will have to apply more fixes?
What the hell is the point of a Rollup package then, it’s just more patches.
Man they are sloppy at patching their OS.
This “hiding under the rug” that Microsoft is doing for Windows 2000 is quite annoying. Why couldn’t they’ve just amassed all the fixes and make a full fledged service pack rather than a rollup that in turn needs a rollup?

So we are waiting for more patches for a update of a final update of a rollup of Windows 2000.
Not to troll, but I’m swtiching to a Mac, this is enough, I just can’t stand it anymore.
Goodbye.
I agree that its a stupid trick from MS to make you change your OS to XP, because you wont have these inconviniences there (at least until the following windows comes out).
But think a little bit! You may spend 1-2 days with experimenting the fixes, and if you succeed you havent spent money on buying XP. If your time is cheaper than a new XP, you were the “winner”.
Would one please post a direct-link to the hungarian version also?
Win2k works fine for me at home and at my entire place of business.
is this a patch to a patch that’s really a service pack, but instead called a rollup?
will a patch to the patch for the patch be released?
MS blows….
