The KaiStore team keeps up the momentum with another set of updates that make it easier to find the apps you’re looking for and enhance the UX experience as a whole.
We don’t talk much about KaiOS on OSNews, which is a shame – it’s an offshoot of Firefox OS, and a massive success on phones that blends smartphone and feature phone functionality into one platform. This isn’t a big news item or anything, but ran across it and feel some attention for this platform is more than warranted.
Very interesting OS that unfortunately has been hijacked by Google and others as yet another data source for advertising.

Google has a large stake in this company…
Agreed. I really wish FirefoxOS had stuck around, it was the perfect alternative OS for those who wanted to ditch Google and Apple while maintaining 95% of the functionality of those OSes. It was also dead-easy to write apps for since it was basically writing web apps, which even a non-coder like me can do.
Meh, even Mozilla gets into the data collection game, see Firefox Studies… which somehow keeps mysteriously turning itself back on every few updates for me. Had Firefox os stuck around, I’m guessing it would be just as compromised by this point.
Had an 8110 that I flashed with the GerdaOS fork that removes the Google stuff and other preinstalled apps. It might come to the Cat B35 as well. The biggest fault with all the KaiOS devices is the sluggish response when doing simple tasks like texting!
Do Panasonic still use Firefox OS on their TVs? I have a Samsung Smart TV and a Panasonic Firefox OS Smart TV, and at work I’ve used LG webOS and Android TV platforms. The Panasonic Smart TV is the nicest, most ad-free, straightforward Smart TV experience of all of them and I love it.
It’s not as fancy as the others, but thats a solid plus for me.
Yes, Panasonic still uses its own fork of Firefox OS for new TVs.
