Mandrakesoft, the makers of Mandrake Linux, appear to be firmly out of the red. According to their site, "Mandrakesoft closed a 3.05 million euros increase of capital via subscription for 508,333 new shares at 6 euros per share, an increase in shares of 10.58%. Shares outstanding are now 5,312,889. The strengthened balance sheet reinforces Mandrakesoft's capacity to grow both organically and externally toward the corporate market."

Mandrakesoft has just released Mandrakelinux 10.1 for x86-64, a version of its Linux Operating System that runs on AMD x86-64 and Intel EMT architectures.

Mandrakelinux 10.1 for PowerPC systems has been released: 10.1/PPC has many new and updated programs, some new features, and probably also a few new bugs, so something interesting for everyone.

Joseph Cheek CEO of Lycoris has published a letter to their customers and the community. In the letter Joe addresses many outstanding issues that have gone unresolved over the past few months, and outlines major changes to Lycoris the company, the products, and future direction. My Take: I always thought that Joe is a great guy, and this letter confirms it. He is an objective and a responsible man.

The next version of Mandrakesoft's Linux distribution comes with Wi-Fi roaming capabilities, Bluetooth support and improved power management for laptop users.

According to Distrowatch an evaluation edition of the Lycoris Desktop/LX 1.4 has been released. Many users submitted the news of the release of Mandrake 10.1 Official. Mandrakelinux 10.1 includes Linux kernel 2.6.8.1, Gnome 2.6, KDE 3.2.3, and GCC 3.4.1. Mandrake touts the benefits of better Centrino support, expanded Bluetooth support, and improved laptop support, which includes ACPI and wireless chip support. This is a new development release of Mandrakelinux 10.1 for PowerPCs: "Three 700MB images this time, so a few more packages included.
