After much delay, the first 2 Amiga Gamecards (offering 4 games each) are currently selling at CompUSA stores. This was shared in latest of the weekly held AmigaWorld Q&A sessions with Amiga's CTO. Some of the most notable games were written by the AmigaDE/AmigaOS software development house Zeoneo Limited.

Amiga's CTO answered 10 more Amiga community questions at the AmigaWorld community portal. Mr. Moss has recently agreed to answer 10 questions a week from AmigaWorld visitors.

Amiga.org reports that Fleecy Moss of Amiga Inc replies to the first batch of questions from the AmigaWorld thread created for this purpose. This is the first of a planned series of similar sessions.

In an effort to enhance the communication between the Amiga community and Amiga companies Amiga's Chief Technology Officer, Fleecy Moss, has agreed on offering weekly Questions and Answers sessions at the AmigaWorld.net community portal.

SciTech Software Inc. and Hyperion Entertainment VOF announced that they have enterered into a strategic partnership which will see SciTech's SNAP technology integrated into AmigaOS 4.x which is currently under development by Hyperion for PPC based systems.

The South Wales Amiga User Group has reviewed the latest version of IBrowse, one of the three main Amiga webbrowsers and the default browser for the soon to be released version 4.0 of the Amiga Desktop Operating System. I have uploaded some additional screenshots here, but note that the browser can be configured to look prettier. Also IBrowse is compact and will function on 14 Mhz (or better) classic Amiga systems. Regarding the new PPC Amiga platform, Soft3 recently posted some pictures of the AmigaOne-XE motherboard in combination with a Dual 7410 cpu module.

Amiga Inc has revealed more details on the new Amiga Operating System: "Amiga is pleased to publish this first version of the feature set of the up and coming AmigaOS4.0. The document will undergo revision in subsequent issues but because of the massive demand for information made by the public, we have decided to release it in its current state." The official launch of the PPC based AmigaOne platform together with AmigaOS4.0 is sheduled for March at the upcoming CeBit tradeshow in Germany.

Eight new preview AmigaOS4 screenshots have been released, demonstrating some of the default GUI customizability. However should be noted, none of these new screenshots yet show the default AmigaOS 4.0 appearance. However "In the end, it is you that will decide what your AmigaOS 4.0 looks like...". Consumer AmigaOne boards will be delivered before Christmas, with the AmigaOne version of AmigaOS4 following shortly after them. The official mainstream launch of these new AmigaOS4/AmigaOne computers will be at CeBit in Germany, to be held March 2003.

I haven't been in the Amiga scene for quite some years now as I have long since left for the shores of planet BeOS. However I recently had the chance to re-enter the Amiga World at an Amiga show in the South-East of France when I went to meet a potential employer - after being "discovered" on OSNews! You'd think that a computer which hasn't shipped in years would have a small dwindling community. If you thought that well, you'd be wrong. This show dwarfs the BeOS BeGeistert shows I go to in Germany. Yet, Begeistert is for all of Europe and held every 6 months, this was just one French Amiga show and they are held around Europe nearly every week.

Last weekend at 4 different Amiga shows held across the world Amiga fans were introduced to AmigaOS4, AmigaDE and MorphOS solutions. An in depth show report by GFXBase of an earlier show in Austria, includes many interesting pictures regarding the AmigaOS4/AmigaOne and Pegasos/MorphOS (PPC AmigaOS clone) projects. AROS, the AmigaOS clone which is being developed by Amiga enthousiasts, and who many regard it as the real future of the AmigaOS, now includes a simple WorkBench clone. Screenshots are available.

OSNews reader Don Cox writes: "Dock system for the new AmigaOS is shown here. The author is Stefan Robl, who also has an interesting Coldfire-based hardware project. Would users of Mac OS X like to compare this Amiga dock with the Mac one?" Our Take: The Dock for AmigaOS4 sounds good, but it does not look good. While it is said to be customizable, the defaults matter. I hope the author lose the background image for the dock, and instead deliver something professional-looking, refined and clean for the final version of the OS. Some alpha around the icons wouldn't hurt either.
