Google It almost sounds like a joke, but it's true enough. Ever since Gmail was instituted in April of 2004 with the invitation scheme, it and many other of Google's Apps have been wearing the beta tag. At long last, however, Google's ripping it off like a bandage.

Maybe it's just me but docs really, really sucks but it's free so I won't complain.

I think Google is going to roll out another product very soon, and they wanted people to take them more seriously and not make it part of the running Google beta joke. So they simply removed the beta name from its already existing products and are going to put it on something they care about.
