I'm the only one whose written a line of code for the Media Station project. Take that into context reading this post.
I'm not sure how it's possible to say "Embedded Gecko brings the SkyOS Media Station project closer to reality." when the Media Station is going to be using SDL and OpenGL for the interface. Rendering text is convoluted enough with OpenGL. This being said, I'm not sure how we can do web browsing. This isn't to say that it can't be done, or it won't be done though.
If someone can show me a way to embed native widgets in an OpenGL application, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I think it's going to be much easier to write a mini-web browser using WidgetGecko and execute it from the Media Station.

Sky OS is really neat but I am still not understanding the point of it?
What is the eventual goal? Is it going to ever be used as a production OS like Linux or BSD?
Or is it going to just keep getting neat features once a month or so but never getting any one feature stable.
I am hoping they let us know what is up. I am looking forward to using this one day! I would make it my main OS if I could.

i think its more of a "dev wants to use it" kinda project. as in, it will possibly fit nicely as a home desktop os at some point.
as for going feature stable, nah. thats not the way to develop a modern os. you may see a feature freeze so that they can put out some sort of release, but for the most part it will allways be onwards and upwards.

I don't have a problem with onward and upward. But applications and Operating systems that take that approach will never make it even close to mainstream.
And what I mean by stable is that it works. In Sky right now, there are a LOT of cool features, most of which crash when you try and use them. It would be nice if those cool features worked.
When I get on my Mac, all the cool stuff works good enough that I don't have to think about it, same with my Windows machine and more and more on my Linux desktop also. Cool applications and things like Xen and Begal etc are very, very useable.
If Sky had that I would love to use it because it does have some neat concepts.

I understand that and TRUST me I am not putting Sky down. I can't do any of what has been done in Sky, it's amazing how much has been done by one man.
I was just saying I would love to see a stable 1.0 release to start down the path of regular releases, I mean Sky has been in Beta for years.
Also the one man idea doesn't seem like it will work to ever make a real operating system. It would be cool if Robert opened it up a little and let people help etc to get it out there. I mean if it got stable and got the hardware support it would be a GREAT everyday OS. (The GUI needs a little cleaning)
I think I have tried the 6132 build (I did buy access last winter) And I downloaded the latest version that was there about 2 weeks ago. Not sure if 6132 is newer.
